Fraud Screening

Payment Processing, Inc employs a number of fraud screening measures to reduce incidents of credit card fraud for both card-present and card-not-present transactions.

Address Verification Service (AVS)

A service supported by Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express that verifies the cardholder's billing address against the address on file with the issuer. AVS is designed to help combat fraud in card-not-present transactions.

Credit Card Verification Values (CVV)

As an additional screening measure, Payment Processing, Inc screens for card industry Credit Card Verification Values or CVVs. CVV refers to the verification numbers embossed or imprinted on credit cards to reduce fraud risk in card-not-present transactions. All credit card brands use some kind of Credit Card Verification Number, though they are named differently: CVV2 for Visa, CVC2 for MasterCard and CID for American Express. In all cases, it is a 3-4 digit code that is printed on the credit card. CVV ensures that the person using the card in card-not-present transactions has physical possession of the credit card.

Buyer Authentication

Payment Processing, Inc offers BuyerAuth, a service which supports the credit card industry buyer authentication initiatives encompassing MasterCard SecureCode, Verified by Visa, and JCB J/Secure. Merchants that take advantage of BuyerAuth significantly reduce the risk of credit card fraud risk and liability.

BuyerAuth protects the merchant and their customer against fraud during an online purchase, through a secure PIN code that is entered by the customer along with their credit card information. The PIN is an electronic signature that verifies the customer's identity.
